ANDY CADDICK is considering his future at Somerset with
Hampshire likely to be among those interested in the England
fast bowler.
Caddick, selected for England`s winter tour to Zimbabwe and
his native New Zealand, is rumoured to be unhappy at Taunton
and is looking for a better deal elsewhere. The 27-year-old, who
has played in nine Tests, still has a year remaining on his
contract with Somerset.
Caddick said: "I`ve had no official contact with Hampshire but if
an offer came along of course I would have to think about it
carefully.
"I`m still under contract with Somerset but things can change. I
have to make sure I consider all my options. If Hampshire were
to come up with an offer I would obviously have to look at it and
make a decision."
Mike Taylor, Hampshire`s marketing manager, confirmed the
county are hoping to sign two seam bowlers to strengthen their
attack for next season.
"Anyone can see we`ve struggled to bowl sides out twice this
season. We`ve got good youngsters but we can`t wait five years
for our 18-year-olds to develop. We need to win things now," he
said.
Ireland pace bowler Mark Patterson, 22, is to sign a one-year
professional contract with Surrey. He joined them earlier this
season on trial and was then given a short-term agreement.
