CRICKET: GOOCH STAYS FOR ENTIRE SUMMER Graham Gooch has been given the England captaincy for the remainder of the summer despite their first Test defeat by Australia. Gooch was originally appointed for the first three Tests but chairman of selectors Ted Dexter said he would stay on for the whole series. The Essex batsman has already said he will not be going on this winter's tour to the West Indies. Dexter said Gooch's personal contribution and determination at Old Trafford were outstanding.
