CD to name Shield side after weekend tournament

Central Districts' side for the State Shield will be named after the annual Chapple Cup/Cave Cup tournament in Palmerston North at the weekend.

In the Chapple Cup part of the tournament on Saturday, Hawke's Bay will play Marlborough and Manawatu will meet Taranaki.

And in the Cave Cup, Wairarapa will play Nelson and Horowhenua Kapiti will meet Wanganui.

The winners of each section will play off for trophies with the others being redrawn to play.

The panel that drew the teams from the hat and which supervised the draw were: Martin How, cricket executive officer of Manawatu Cricket, CD board members Graham Sherlock and Graeme Reardon, and CD's development manager Nigel Brooke.
