It's day 10 of the World Twenty20 and for the third day in a row it's Ian Chappell on top of the Star Wars league; he now leads Sambit Bal by 112 points.
It was a quiet day for both Ian and Sambit as none of their picks - in both the games - raked in the big points. For the first game, between South Africa and West Indies, Ian had AB de Villiers as trump, who gave him 64, Younis Khan (16) Jacques Kallis (37) and Kamran Akmal (21). The big disappointment was Dwayne Bravo, who featured in both Ian and Sambit's team. After his netting close to 300 points through his Man-of-the-Match performance against India, Bravo managed one negative point from Saturday's game, which was bad news for Sambit who had him as trump.
Apart from Bravo, Akmal and de Villiers, Sambit had Misbah-ul-Haq (15), Roelof van der Merwe (61), Shoaib Malik, (4), Saeed Ajmal (10) and Johan Botha (24).
But the big mover in terms of points on Saturday was Sanjay Manjrekar. Before Saturday's games, he was more than 400 points behind Sambit but the deficit is now down to just 58. Sanjay had Lendl Simmons and Umar Gul in his team, who fetched him a combined total of 419 points. "It's been steady progress so far and I had a good game yesterday as Gul and Simmons - players who both Sambit and Ian hadn't picked - did exceptionally well," says Sanjay. "What could make the difference now is the transfers and I need to use them carefully".
With Sri Lanka playing Ireland and England playing India today, expect more fireworks tomorrow.
