Christchurch's Under-19 teams named for regional tourney

Christchurch's Under-19 selectors have announced the following sides to compete in the Canterbury Regional Under-19 Tournament to be held at Mandeville Domain from December 1-3.

The competition involves eight teams from the Canterbury region and has been dominated by Christchurch teams in the past.

Included in the selections are last season's New Zealand Under-19 World Cup representatives Leighton Burtt and Neil Broom.

The teams are:

Christchurch Red: William Smart (captain), Leighton Burtt, Cameron Rennell, Byron Newton, Liam O'Sullivan, Matt Coulter, Doug Matthews, Richard Brooks, Thomas Lee, Ben Rae, Darren Broom, James Baxendale. Coach, Garfield Charles.

Christchurch Black: Neil Broom (captain), Adam Chambers, Fraser Hawes, Todd Astle, Craig Stevens, Ryan Hurring, Keryn Ambler, Scott Williams, Karl Kendrick, Chris Chadwick, Tim Bloomfield, Chris Small. Coach, Neville Lyons.
