Darren Holder has been appointed coaching manager of West Indian cricket. Holder is currently the talent development manager at Queensland Cricket in Australia, and will take up his new position by mid-June. His duties will include managing the West Indian board's coach education programme and coordinating the emerging players' programme.
Holder was among the experts who helped Jermaine Lawson remodel his action after he had been reported for throwing. Lawson has subsequently been given the all-clear to return to international cricket.
Announcing the appointment, Roger Brathwaite, the chief executive of the West Indian board, expressed the confidence that Holder's inclusion would add significant value to the programmes being conducted in the West Indies. "He is at the cutting edge technically and technologically of current coaching trends and his role will be critical to the development of the game and the young players in particular in the West Indies."
