Delhi fail to press advantage and settle for a draw

The North Zone Under-14 tournament match featuring Delhi and Punjab at the
Air Force Palam "B" Ground in Delhi ended in a draw with Delhi taking 5
points due to their massive 220 run first innings lead. Punjab had to be
satisfied with three points.
Delhi won the toss and elected to bat on the opening day and in their 91
overs scored a mammoth 443 for 6 before declaring the innings. The chief
architects being M Tehlan (165 off 159 balls with 23 fours) and K Harit
(61) who were involved in a 228 run fifth wicket partnership.
Punjab in reply, were bundled out on the second day for 223. Stumper Udal
Kaul (56) was the top scorer. R Pant (4 for 46) took the bowling honours
for Delhi. Following on, Punjab made amends and batted right through
the third day to enforce a draw. Openers Karan Goel (89) and H Bajwa (74)
held the fort for Punjab right through the first session of play on the
final day. This was followed by some disciplined and sedate batting by the
middle and lower order batsmen. At close Punjab finished at 346/7.
