Rahul Dravid's monumental 270 in the third Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi, and India's victory in the match, has propelled him to a career-high second spot in the PwC ratings. Dravid is currently on 892 points, only five behind Brian Lara. Dravid was in fourth place before the start of the Test.
India's batting strength can be gleaned from the fact that there are two more batsmen in the top ten - Sachin Tendulkar at No. 8 and Virender Sehwag at No. 9 - while VVS Laxman just misses the cut, and is in 12th place. Among the Indian bowlers, Anil Kumble is at No. 7, but the biggest gainers were Irfan Pathan and Lakshmipathy Balaji: Pathan gains nine spots to move to No. 49, while Balaji jumps a whopping 30 places to No. 67.
There is less to celebrate for Pakistan, though, with only player each in the top ten batting and bowling lists.
