England face frustration with heavy rain threatening to seriously
delay the start of play against the West Indies on Thursday. The
outfield at Bourda is covered with pools of water and officials
say 36 hours of fine weather is needed to allow a prompt start.
The rest day is available for use if any of the first three days
of the game are a wash out. Rain prevented any play whatsoever
in the Guyana Test when Graham Gooch led England to the Caribbean
four years ago.
