Former Barbados youth team cricketer Duane Springer is dead.
Springer, who represented Barbados in the 1994 and 1995 Nortel
West Indies youth cricket championship, passed away at the Queen
Elizabeth Hospital earlier this week after a long illness. He
was 22.
An all-rounder capable of hard-hitting batting and
tidymedium-pace, Springer was an outstanding cricketer at
junior level and was captain of the Coleridge and Parry team
that won the 1991 BET under-15 competition.
He was also captain of the Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic
team that won the CIBC under-19 Schools' League in 1995. He
also captained the Combined Schools South Division 1 team.
On leaving school, Springer represented Maple in the Division 1
championship up until last year.
He will be buried on Tuesday.
