Confusion prevails in Bangladesh cricket with television channels announcing a 'probable draft committee' of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the government, which must approve any such committee, not confirming the names announced. This follows the mass resignation in the past week of the Mahbubul Anam-led executive committee, the sole exception being M Abdul Aziz, the president.
The Daily Star reported that news channels revealed the names
of the members of a new ad-hoc committee on Wednesday night. However,
there was no response from the caretaker government, which was due to announce changes next week and which seems to have been upstaged by the leak.
The names announced on TV have not been endorsed by the National Sports
Council (NSC), the country's apex sports body, which also denied having sent any
circular regarding the committee to the sports ministry.
The names announced on TV include CGS Maj Gen Sinha Ibne Jamali
(president); KZ Islam, Tanvir Mazhar Tanna, Mubasshar Hossain, Shafiqul
Islam Kamal and Syed Fahim Munaim,Afzalur Rahman Sinha, Enayet Hossain
Siraj, ASM Faruque, Shafiqul Islam Munna, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby,
Khondokar Jamil Uddin and Reazuddin Al Mamun, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu,
Tanjib Ahsan Saad and Shakil Kasem.
