ICC clarifies scheduling guidelines for back to back one day games

Following comments by Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak today concerning his team's program of back to back One Day matches this week end, the International Cricket Council (ICC) today clarified its position on the scheduling of back to back One Day

Following comments by Zimbabwe captain Heath Streak today concerning his team's program of back to back One Day matches this week end, the International Cricket Council (ICC) today clarified its position on the scheduling of back to back One Day games.
ICC General Manager - Corporate Affairs, Brendan McClements, said that following the Captains Meeting last year the ICC had implemented programming guidelines adopted by all countries which specified that scheduling of back to back matches should be avoided.
In the case of the back to back matches played by South Africa earlier in the season and the back to back games to be played by Zimbabwe this weekend, the ICC also confirmed that these programming decisions were made and accepted by the individual Boards concerned when the tour schedule developed.
"The ICC's guideline on back to back games is that they should be avoided," said Mr McClements.
"In relation to the games this weekend, clearly the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Zimbabwe Cricket Union have agreed that scheduling such matches in this case was unavoidable.
"If Heath has a different view, it is an issue that I am sure that he will take up with his Board which has approved the program his team is playing." For further information:
