The International Cricket Council today confirmed the scheduling obligations in place for international cricket.
ICC Chief Executive, Malcolm Speed, said that the key ICC requirement for international cricket was that teams should play series against each other twice in a five year cycle, once at home and once away. Each of these series must comprise at least two Test matches and three One Day International matches.
"In relation to the number of matches a team must play in a series, the ICC requirement is a minimum of two Tests and three ODI's. Many countries choose to exceed this minimum requirement for sound historical, cricketing and commercial reasons and this is a decision that each country makes for its own strategic purposes," said Mr Speed.
