The challenging process towards the West Indies hosting the Cricket World Cup 2007 will begin today here when officials of the West Indies Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council meet to discuss a wide range of issues relating to the event.
Rev. Wes Hall, President of the WICB, and Chris Dehring, Managing Director of Windies World Cup 2007 Inc. along with other members of the WICB's Interim World Cup Committee will attend the meeting on behalf of the Caribbean body.
Malcolm Speed, Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, Campbell Jamieson, Commercial Director of ICC Development International, and Warren Deutrom, Cricket Events Manager of the ICC, will represent the international organization's interests.
"The WICB/WWC has set out a number of objectives for the meeting with our partners at the ICC," remarked Dehring.
He added: "First and principally, we want to establish the parameters for the ongoing working relationship between the two parties. The ICC will present how they want the event managed and the various roles for the organizations involved, while the WICB will need to clarify the role of WWC.
"We will also want to set the timelines for key contracts, develop a wider understanding of the issues of the CWC 2007, and to use the opportunity for some positive public relations on the WICB's efforts to host the CWC 2007."
