India to visit Pakistan in September
KARACHI, March 29: Indian cricketers will undertake a short tour
to Pakistan in September this year to play a series of one-day
International against host Pakistan, according to a programme
released by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Saturday. A PCB fax
received here said that Indian tour Pakistan between September
23 to 30 and are expected to play three limited overs
internationals. The series will be part of Pakistan's Golden
Jubilee Celebrations. Both the teams are expected to fly
directly to Pakistan after playing five-match one-day
international series in Toronto (Canada).
It would be India's return visit to this country after
Pakistan's schedule tour to that country in May to play in the
Independence Cup. Neighbouring Indians will be touring Pakistan
after the lapse of about eight years. They toured Pakistan under
the leadership of hard-hitting opener Krishnamachari Srikant in
1989-90 when all the four Test matches ended in a draw while
Pakistan had won the one-day International series 2-0 with one
match abandoned.
Pakistan's participation in the Independence Cup will be the
first phase of resumption of cricket ties between the two
nations.
Following is Pakistan's programme:
April 3-11: Sharjah Cup
April 13-27: tour to Sri Lanka.
May 9-30: Independence Cup in India.
June 27-Aug 19: Pakistan `A' to England.
July: Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Sept 14-22: Sahara Cup in Canada.
Sept 23-30: India in Pakistan.wAPP
