Dalmiya threatens ACC boycott of tourney
The President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Jagmohan
Dalmiya, in a letter to the ICC has threatened that the Asian Cricket
Council (ACC) would boycott the second ICC one-day knock-out trophy
scheduled to be held in Nairobi next year if the International body
continues to treat the ACC shabbily.
According to an Indian newspaper, Dalmiya, who lays down office later
this month, said in the letter that even though tournaments in Asia
have been the biggest revenue earner for the ICC, the ICC in return
have not made available enough funds for the game's developement as
compared to the South American countries.
It is also reported that Dalmiya is to take up the issue during the
ICC meeting later this month. He has also requested the support of the
Asian countries.
Under-15 camp for ACC tourney kicks off
The eight-day long conditioning camp for the 35 probables of the
forthcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) under-15 championship started
in Pune on Thursday. The ACC Under-15 tourney is scheduled to be held
in Malaysia from June 8 to 18.
The probables kicked off the camp with a session of nets under the
guidance of former Maharashtra all-rounder Ramesh Borde. The team
coach Roger Binny arrived for the camp in the afternoon.

VA Indulkar (both Mumbai), S Dixit (UP), PJ Das (Assam), RV Elahi

Former Andhra Ranji player passes away
Former Andhra Ranji opening batsman Addala S Sastry, better known as
Suribabu, passed away in Kakinada on Thursday. Suribabu who is
survived by his mother, wife and two sons, was 57. Suribabu had been
ailing since January.
Suribabu's death was mourned by DV Subba Rao, president of ACA, N
Venkata Rao, association secretary and PV Rao, vice-president.
Suribabu's death was a great loss to Andhra cricket in general and
Kakinada in particular, they said.
Suribabu had the distinction of being the member of Andhra's first
team for the P Ramachandra Rao Trophy in 1963. The very next season he
was selected to play for the Andhra Ranji team.
