Ireland name squad to face Holland

Ireland have named their squad for the ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Holland at Deventer in Holland, starting on July 13, and the European Championships.

The team contains two new names, Naseer Shoukat, who was a first-class cricketer in Pakistan, but now holds an Irish passport, and Greg Thompson, who took Eoin Morgan's record as youngest ever Irish International when he played against MCC at Limavady last week aged 16 years and 268 days. He and Gary Kidd, another player who made his Ireland debut in that match, both played in the Irish under-19 team at the World Cup in Bangladesh earlier this year.

Following the Intercontinental Cup match, Ireland will stay in Holland to take part in the ECC European Championships, starting on July 18. They will be boosted by the return of Adrian McCoubrey from an ankle injury. McCoubrey, who also plays for Essex, was forced to sit out the game against MCC last week.

Gordon Cooke, who will replace Thompson, and Paul Mooney also return to the squad for the tournament, which will produce rankings for the ICC Trophy to be held in Ireland next summer. Ireland's first match is against ECB on Sunday, July 18, followed by Holland on July 20, Scotland on July 21, and finally Denmark on July 22.
