The Income Tax authorities on Friday conducted a raid on Indian off
spinner Nikhil Chopra's South Delhi residence in connection with the
on going probe into match fixing allegations.
The Press Trust of India (PTI) reports that Chopra was present at the
time of the raid. Quoting IT Department sources the agency said that
Chopra was searched by the authorities at the Airport soon after his
arrival from London on Thursday night.
The latest raid is a continuation of the investigations started by the
Income Tax department on July 20, when they examined the premises and
bank lockers of various officials and current and former cricketers.
At the time of earlier raids, Nikhil Chopra was among the three
cricketers not present in India As he was away London to participate
in a benefit match at the Oval on July 29.
Chopra who was in England till Thursday had earlier intimidated the IT
Department from London that he would file his returns as soon as he
landed in India.
