The Interim Committee of the board of Control for cricket in Sri Lanka,
confirmed today that Ajith Jayasekara will continue as the Sri Lankan team
manager.
A member of the Interim Committee, Michael Tissera, speaking to CricInfo
this morning said, that Jayasekara's contract has been renewed until the end
of the Indian tour.
Jayasekara, who played for Air Force Sports Club, replaced Neil Perera last
year, his first assignment being Sri Lanka's tour of South Africa in
December 2000, where the team played three Test Matches and six One-Day
Internationals.
The local media had reported today that Jayasekara has been replaced by
Michael Tissera. Tissera, however, who captained Sri Lanka in the inaugural
World Cup in 1975 in England, denied this.
