India spinner Anil Kumble is a man on the charge in the LG ICC Player Rankings.
Kumble's ten wickets in the defeat of Sri Lanka in Delhi have helped propel him up five places and he now sits in fifth spot as India's leading player in the bowling list.
Kumble, who previously moved up one place and into the top 10 after collecting three wickets in the first Test in Chennai, is now just 10 points behind fourth-placed Shoaib Akhtar of Pakistan
Kumble is not the only India bowler with a smile on his face after Wednesday's Test win as left-armer Irfan Pathan is also now in the top ten. He moves up one place to 10th in the list and is also on the rise in the all-rounder list as well.
Pathan's second innings 93, his Test-best score, has helped him move up six places in that all-rounder table and he now sits just outside the top five, in seventh spot. That innings, compiled as a opener, also shifted him up 28 places to 84th in the LG ICC Rankings for batsmen.
Kumble and Pathan are joined in the top 20 list for bowlers by a third Indian player, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who is holding steady in 16th. India's other frontline bowler in the Delhi Test, Ajit Agarkar, has moved up one place to 53rd position.
Things are equally positive for India with the bat. Captain Rahul Dravid remains in fifth place in the LG ICC Test Rankings for batsmen, Virender Sehwag - who missed the Delhi Test through illness - is seventh and Sachin Tendulkar is up one place to ninth after his record-breaking 35th Test hundred.
V.V.S.Laxman has moved up four places thanks to his efforts in the second Test and now sits just outside the top 20, at 22nd in the batting list.
For Sri Lanka things are not quite so positive. Both their leading bowlers in the LG ICC Test rankings have moved down the list with Muttiah Muralidaran slipping one spot to third, behind Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne, while Chaminda Vaas is down four places to eighth.
Sri Lanka's batsmen are not represented in the top 10 with Mahela Jayawardene their highest-placed player in the list at 16th, up three places after his two half-centuries in Delhi.
Kumar Sangakkara is down three slots to 19th, Thilan Samaraweera has slipped two places to 23rd and Tillakaratne Dilshan is in 32nd, down three spots.
On a slightly more upbeat note for the touring side, captain Marvan Atapattu is a major mover in the right direction, up 13 places to 33rd position in the LG ICC Test batting list.
The remaining Test in the India - Sri Lanka Test series is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad starting on 18 December with India now holding a 1-0 lead in the three-match series after a rain-ruined draw in the first Test in Chennai.
