Ladies cricket launch in Lesotho

This has certainly been the year of the Women in Africa. Lesotho Cricket Association in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Gender will officially launch their Women's Cricket Program in Maseru on Saturday, 23rd July 2005.

It is expected that at least 100 ladies from the surrounding university will attend the launch.
Mr. Sakoane (LCA Chairman) said: "We are very excited about bringing women into the cricket family. The female student teachers from the University will largely assist the Development Program in becoming more sustainable."
Dan Phaka, Level II coach from South Africa, is currently in Lesotho's Thaba Tseka Region doing an Introductory Course and will represent the ICC at this all important event on Saturday.
Hoosain Ayob (RDM) said: "I am very pleased with the progress of Women's Cricket initiatives in Africa. The Women's World Cup in South Africa has certainly been an eye-opener for the countries. I am confident that Africa will feature more pre-dominantly at the next Women's Cricket World Cup"
