The Baroda-Maharashtra Ranji Trophy clash at the
IPCL Ground in Baroda saw the visiting side take
the honours on the first day. On winning the toss,
Baroda chose to bat first, and it was a move that
their skipper, Jacob Martin might have regretted
at the end of the day. Although they did not fare
too badly, they would have been disappointed with
the 273 all out they managed.
Connor Williams made 36 at the top of the order,
but the team would have hoped he could go on to
make more. Williams' partner S Parab made 51 but
this too was not enough to stem the rot. At 131
for 4, things looked down for the home side.
However, TB Arothe with 61 (97 minutes, 11 fours)
and A Bhoite 62 (66 balls, 8 fours, 1 six)
effected a miny recovery.
With the tail not adding much, Baroda were knocked
over in 84.1 overs. Seamer Iqbal Siddiqui with
4/83 was the most successful of the bowlers. In
response, Maharashtra were two for no loss in the
three overs they faced.
