Maharashtra predictably made it to the
quarterfinals by virtue of their first innings
lead over Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy
(under-19) tournament at Pune on Sunday.
In reply to Maharashtra's 381, Karnataka who were
182 for eight at close of play on the second day,
were all out for 215. K Adhav picked up both the
wickets to fall in the morning to finish with four
for 63.
Despite a lead of 166 runs, Maharashtra did not
enforce the follow on. Opting to bat again, they
were all out for 165 with opener Nachiket Pingle's
73 being the main highlight. Pingle faced 137
balls and hit ten of them to the ropes.
Dharmichand again took four wickets, this time for
59 runs. Skipper C Raghu claimed four wickets for
56 runs. In the remaining time, Karnataka were 20
for two when stumps were finally drawn.
