Xavier Marshall, who tested positive in a drug test conducted earlier this month, will be eligible for selection for Jamaica in the upcoming regional one-day tournament, according to Jackie Hendriks, the president of the Jamaica Cricket Association.
Hendriks said that since the association had received no official word on the drug test, Marshall will be eligible. "We have only read it in the newspapers, we have read it online, but as far as it goes, nothing official has come to us," Hendriks told the Jamaica Gleaner. "We have taken the initiative to call him [Marshall] and have a chat with him to find out whether, in fact, there is anything to it."
However, Hendriks did not reveal what Marshall had told the association. "We are certainly moving to ensure that these sort of things are things of the past," he said. "We are certainly trying to help in every way we can."
On September 16, Marshall was withdrawn from the provisional Stanford Superstars squad for undisclosed reasons. The Superstars are scheduled to play England in the Stanford 20/20 for 20, a winner-take-all US$20 million match on November 1.
