McGrath closes gap on Donald
PricewaterhouseCoopers Media Release
Glenn McGrath's ten wickets in the first Test against the West Indies
lifted him two places to second in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Test
Ratings, and just 33 points short of Allan Donald. Fellow Australian
Michael Slater also improved his Rating, up eight places to ninth, his
highest Rating for three years.
Of the team that lost in Trinidad, only Brian Lara remains in the top 40
of the batting, and Ambrose and Walsh are the only two in the top 60 of
the bowling. This contrasts with, for example, early 1986 when the West
Indies had five batsmen and three bowlers in the top ten (Richards,
Haynes, Greenidge, Richardson, Gomes, plus Marshall, Garner and Holding).
