The BCCI will be represented by three senior officials at the ICC's annual conference in London from June 25 to 29 because of the recent change in structure at the top-most level of the board.
N Srinivasan, who has temporarily
stepped aside as BCCI president,
Jagmohan Dalmiya, who is in charge of the board's day-to-day functioning and the
secretary Sanjay Patel will be in attendance.
Two officials from each of the ten Full Members of the ICC usually attend the conference. However, since Srinivasan stopped participating in the BCCI's administration until the probe into the
betting charges against his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, a top Chennai Super Kings official, is completed, Dalmiya could represent the BCCI.
The ICC board consists of the president or chairman from each of the ten Full Members plus three Associate representatives. Also present at the meetings is the ICC president, who chairs proceedings and the ICC chief executive. The ICC board ratifies all major decisions taken during the conference.
Srinivasan is set to attend the meetings of three sub-committees of which he is a member: the ICC's finance and commercial affairs committee, the nominations committee and the
HR and remuneration committee. Despite the wariness of BCCI members, led by IS Bindra who explained his opposition to Srinivasan attending the meeting on his website and Twitter page, Srinivasan will take part in these meetings.
"We are hearing that Srinivasan will leave for London immediately after attending the TNCA [Tamil Nadu Cricket Association] AGM on June 23. It will end up further damaging his own image and that of the BCCI if he actually ends up attending the annual conference," a chief of a BCCI affiliated unit told ESPNcricinfo.
The Chief Executives meeting, however, will be attended by the secretary Patel. "Traditionally, the BCCI secretary attends the CEC meeting and there will be no change in this tradition," a board official said.
The CEC comprises the Chief Executives of the ten Full Member nations as well as three Associate representatives. Also present is the ICC chief executive, who chairs the meeting and, by invitation, the ICC president and chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee.
Despite the BCCI's opposition to DRS, there is likely to be a move for it to be implemented in every Test. The issue will first be discussed in the Chief Executives' meeting, so Patel, who along with BCCI treasurer Ravi Savant was in Chennai - Srinivasan's hometown - on Wednesday, will have to reiterate board's stand.
