Nick Knight, Warwickshire's long-serving opening batsman, has been awarded a benefit year in 2004 in recognition of 10 years loyal service to the Club.
Nick, made his first-class debut for Warwickshire County Cricket Club in 1995 and finished the season top of the batting averages. Since that time he has played in almost 100 first-class matches averaging over 54 runs per innings. He was a key member of Warwickshire's 1995 double-winning team and was awarded his county cap that same year. He also featured heavily in the side which won the Benson & Hedges cup at the end of 2002 season and was the leading English player in the same year with 1520 runs at an average of 95.
Throughout his career to date he has scored more than 11,000 first class runs and has played a significant role in the Club's batting line-up year after year. His highest score of 255 not out was scored against Hampshire at Edgbaston in 2002 whilst sharing a record 10th wicket partnership. In addition Nick has played in 17 Test Matches and 100 one day internationals for England.
Commenting on the announcement, Chief Executive Dennis Amiss said: "The Club is delighted to award Nick a benefit in 2004 in recognition of his tremendous contribution to Warwickshire cricket. Nick has remained a hugely prolific run-scorer for the County and wish him every success".
