NSW U19s beat Hong Kong by 78 runs in tour opener

The NSW U19s have scored a comfortable 78-run victory over Hong Kong in a 50-over match played at the Blacktown International Sportspark in Sydney.

The NSW U19s have scored a comfortable 78-run victory over Hong Kong in a 50-over match played at the Blacktown International Sportspark in Sydney. The match was the first on Hong Kong's 9-day tour that is being used as preparation for the two upcoming ICC qualifying tournaments and has been arranged with great assistance from Cricket NSW.
Batting first, NSW U19s amassed 5-255 from their 50 overs with Jagot top-scoring with 88 from 110 balls while Mortimer (41), Doran (44) and De Guisti (31) also made telling contributions with the bat. Nadeem Ahmed was the pick of the Hong Kong bowlers claiming 2-37 from his 10 over spell while Adil Mehmood (1-32), Irfan Ahmed (1-43) and Haseeb Amjad (1-56) were the other wicket-takers for Hong Kong.
Hong Kong could only manage 177 in reply with skipper Jamie Atkinson top-scoring with 43 with Daniel Fallins claiming 4037 from the NSW U19s.
Tweeting from the @crickethk account after the match, Hong Kong Head Coach Charlie Burke said "Not good enough today, no application and looked very rusty. Must learn and be hungrier for success #hkinsydney".
Hong Kong plays another 50-over match against Cricket NSW's Academy XI tomorrow before taking on various Cricket NSW selections in T20 matches.
