Title: Parore selection up in the air
New Zealand and former Northern Districts' wicketkeeper Adam Parore leaves for the one-day cricket tournament in India on Sunday with his home playing base still undecided.
Parore's future with Auckland hangs in the balance after he was dropped by the province's selectors midway through last season.
The selection panel of Austin Parsons, Rex Smith and Wally Stamp, who are all available for the same role next summer, dropped Parore because of tension between him and his teammates. The composition of next summer's panel looks certain to remain unchanged after the only other candidates, Martin Pringle and Peter Webb, withdrew from the selection race.
Auckland chief executive Lindsay Crocker yesterday said it was unlikely that Parore's future would be settled before he left for India.
"We had some discussions with Adam some time ago," Crocker said. "After those, we said we would go away and sort out our selection panel and Adam was to sort out his side of the business." The compositon of next season's Auckland selection panel is due to be decided next Monday.
