PCB seeks advice on Zeeshan`s ban
By Our Sports Reporter
KARACHI, March 2: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought the
advice of member Disciplinary Committee, Sikandar Bakth, on a
mercy appeal by Zeeshan Pervaiz.
According to reliable sources, Zeeshan has urged that his ban be
considered sympathetically in the light of whatever he has undergone through the last seven months.
Zeeshan was banned for two years by the PCB Disciplinary Committee after the Jamaican High Court had acquitted the teenager of
rape charges.
Sources revealed that PCB`s cricket manager Waqar Ahmad has sent
Zeeshan`s mercy appeal to Sikandar Bakth and Ashraf Qureshi, the
two members who surprisingly were not consulted when the ban was
imposed on the 19-year-old batsman.
It was, however, not known what was the present stance of Bakth.
Nevertheless, Bakth has already said in Press statements that besides the boy, the tour management (Haroon Rasheed and Asad Aziz)
should at least be served a show cause notice for their negligence and lenity which brought a bad name to the country and
ruined the career of a promising batsman.
