Nuwan Pradeep, the Sri Lanka fast bowler, has been ruled out of the ongoing two-Test series against Pakistan after twisting his ankle at a practice session on Saturday.
"Nuwan twisted his right ankle while fielding at practice and had to be helped off the field," Sri Lanka manager Michael de Zoysa said. "He is unable to put his foot down.
"He has gone back to Colombo for a scan but it is unlikely that he will take any further part in the series. Most likely he will be out for at least two to three weeks."
Pradeep was part of the 15-member squad named for the series and his injury is the second blow Sri Lanka has suffered to their fast bowlers.
Sri Lanka are already down to 13 players in the squad as another fast bowler, Suranga Lakmal, was ruled out of the series due to a severe swelling above his left ankle following the second Test against South Africa a fortnight ago.
"We will certainly need replacements for the two injured players before the start of the second Test," de Zoysa said.
The second Test against Pakistan commences on August 14 in Colombo and will mark the farewell appearance of former captain Mahela Jayawardene from test cricket.
