Matt Prior has signed a new three-year contract with Sussex which will keep him at the club until the end of 2009.
Prior, who was included in England's 30-man preliminary World Cup squad, spent six weeks in Perth with the Academy during the winter and has now flown out to Bangladesh with the A team for a month-long tour.
Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson said: "It has taken a little longer to finalise as Matthew has been away at the ECB Academy and in Australia. Now the negotiations are complete and it is fantastic news for the club and all Sussex fans. Matthew has played a huge part in our recent success and I am convinced he will play an even bigger role in the next few seasons.
"He has already achieved so much at the young age of 24, and despite not being picked in the World Cup squad I am sure he is on the verge of becoming the next England wicketkeeper. To have 14 first-class hundreds, which is far superior to any of his rivals, must put him in pole-position. We are sure that he will achieve his international ambitions whilst playing for Sussex.
Prior has so far clocked up 12 ODIs, in a variety of batting positions, with a top score of 45. Last season for Sussex he scored 934 first-class runs at 46, held 34 catches and took 11 stumps.
