The Ranji clash between unequal teams Mumbai and
Saurashtra saw the local team make slow progress
at the IFFCO Udaynagar Cricket Ground at Kutch,
Saurashtra. On winning the toss, the Saurashtra
side thought it prudent to bat first against last
year's Ranji Champions and yet could manage only
158/3 off 91 overs. Opener Prashant Joshi, who has
been in good nick in the recent past, posted an
unbeaten 74 in a mammoth 374 minutes. He managed
to reach the fence on ten occasions in the course
of his knock.
Sitanshu Kotak at one drop was in equally patient
mood and occupied the crease for 232 minutes
before scoring 38. When stumps was called, Birju
Phatak (11 not out) and Prashant Joshi (74 not out
were at the crease).
