India's participation in a triangular one-day series in Sharjah, also involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka scheduled for next month, is still under consideration and a decision on it would be taken soon, according to Sports Minister Uma Bharti.
"The issue is under consideration and a collective decision on it is expected in a couple of days," Bharti told reporters in New Delhi on Wednesday evening at a function to felicitate All England Badminton champion Pullela Gopichand.
"It is no more an issue concerning only the Sports Ministry. The External Affairs Ministry, Home Ministry and even the Prime Minister's Office are also involved. As such I cannot make an independent announcement as of now," she said.
Bharti said the decision to withdraw Arjuna Awards from cricketers indicted in the match-fixing scandal had been withheld as some of the players had approached the courts. "Till the courts give their verdict, the government cannot decide on the issue," she said.
