Pakistan's fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who recently returned from the tour of Australia after suffering a leg injury, has been summoned to the office of Shaharyar Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and asked to explain his recent conduct.
A brief press release from the PCB stated that Shoaib had been called in to meet Shaharyar, who "had a hard talk with him on grounds regarding his attitude and conduct during Pakistan team's tour of Australia".
The PCB said that Shaharyar told Shoaib to explain his conduct in writing by February 7, and also informed him that unless he was fully fit, he would not be considered for selection for the forthcoming Indian tour.
Shoaib, 29, recently told Pakistan's News newspaper: "I would only ask the board not to hold me solely responsible for the team's poor performances in Australia. Don't make me the scapegoat. Cricket is a team game and everyone is responsible for the failures."
