After a week spent shooting commercials and living the high life in Mumbai, Shoaib Akhtar will return to Pakistan on Monday prepared to face the four-member commission of inquiry which has been asked to look into the injury he sustained during the final Test against India at Rawalpindi.
His brother, Shahid, told the Pakistan Cricket Board that Shoaib would be available on Monday, a day after he had expressed his inability to attend a meeting on Sunday. The commission are to seek his views on why he didn't take the field during the third day of the decisive Test, which Pakistan lost by an innings and 131 runs.
"The indication given is that the PCB should schedule its medical commission meeting either on Monday or soon after, as Shoaib has to report to Durham by May 1," said a PCB official. The medical commission will also interview Moin Khan, Umar Gul, Abdul Razzaq and Shabbir Ahmed, all of whom played only one of the three Tests against India.
