The controversy surrounding Shoaib Akhtar's alleged injury during the Rawalpindi Test took another bizarre turn when a disgruntled fan served a legal notice against him, accusing Shoaib of faking his injury.
The notice was filed by Babar Ali, whose lawyer, Ansar Mahmood Bajwa, explained the reasons for taking legal action against Shoaib: "My client Babar Ali has served a legal notice on Akhtar over pretending injury in the decisive Test against India and over his reported nightclub bashes in India. Akhtar pretended injury and let the whole nation down and then rubbed salt on the wounds with his off-field actions." Babar has demanded Rs 100 million (around US$1.7 million) within 15 days.
Shoaib has already been asked to appear before a medical commission, which has been set up to investigate the spate of injuries that affected the Pakistan cricketers throughout the series.
