Sri Lanka in World Masters cricket tournament
The World Masters cricket tournament will be played in November
this year in Bombay.
Sri Lanka is one of six countries that is participating. The other countries are: South Africa, India, England, Australia and the
West Indies.
The six teams have been put into two groups - Group `A`: South
Africa, India and England. Group `B`: Australia, West Indies and
Sri Lanka.
Last year, West Indies won the tournament and India were
runners-up. Sri Lanka were knocked-out in the first round.
The World Masters is held in recognition of the services to
cricket of the great cricketers of the past who have contributed
much to enliven the game.
The tournament is for those above the age of 35. The winners will
get US 30,000 dollars, runners-up US dollars 20,000 and third
place US dollars 5,000. There will also be cash awards for Man of
the Match. There will be other awards too.
