Somerset Seconds beat their Gloucestershire counterparts at Bristol today in a one day friendly, but it was a close run thing.
The Cidermen batted first in what was intended to be a fifty over match, but after nine overs had been bowled the rain came down to send the players off the field.
When play resumed the match had been reduced to 35 overs, at the end of which the visitors had made 152, with Keith Dutch top scoring with 58 and Piran Holloway making 41.
In reply the visitors had reached 150 before the final ball of the 35th over was bowled. The Gloucestershire batsman made a single and going for the second was run out leaving the visitors the winners by one run.
Damian Shirazi from the Hampshire Academy was the pick of the visitor's bowlers with three wickets whilst there were two each Reagan McLean and Keith Dutch.
Somerset return to the County Ground in Taunton tomorrow where they start a 3 day championship match against Hampshire.
