South Africa is currently fifth in the official LG ICC table with a rating of 107 and will climb above Pakistan to fourth if it wins the series 4-1 or 5-0. A 3-2 win for the visiting team will ensure that it holds on to fifth spot.
If West Indies, currently sixth with a rating of 105 points, wins the series 5-0 it will leapfrog South Africa and Pakistan in the official table. If it wins the series 4-1 it will overtake South Africa while a 3-2 win could also be enough for it to claim fifth spot depending on the order of the victories.
In the LG ICC ODI Player Rankings, Ramnaresh Sarwan, currently second in the batting rankings, has an opportunity to close in on the leader Ricky Ponting while Jacques Kallis, Graeme Smith and Brian Lara will also be looking to consolidate their positions in the top 10.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Shaun Pollock is the only player from the two teams in the top ten but Makhaya Ntini, currently 11th, will be hoping to change that over the course of the five matches.
