Matara's two oldest schools meet in 99th big match
The 99th cricket encounter between the two oldest schools in Matara
St. Thomas' and St. Servatius will be played on March 26 and 27 on
the Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara.
St. Thomas' and St. Servatius will be led by 4th year colours men A.
Farrhad Farook and Suminda Sampath respectively.
A. Farrhad Farook, an old rounder has scored heavily during the
season with a century to his credit. He has also taken over 45
wickets during the season and represents Matara SC at club cricket.
S. W. Sameer, is his deputy. As wicket keeper he has been responsible
for 45 stumpings. Rohan Kandage opens bowling for St. Thomas'. He has
taken 30 wickets this season. H. S. Jayawardhana, opens batting and
has scored over 400 runs during the season.
P. D. Lanka Tilake, a 3rd year coloursman, is a sound bat and as
opening bowler has taken over 30 wickets.
Ereen Sanjeewa Palliyage, third year coloursman, is a sound bat and a
medium pacer. Issuru Lokuge, Fresher, opening right hand bat has
scored over 800 runs with two centuries to his credit. A leg-spinner.
G. W. Ranasingha, fresher, right hand bat, seamer safe fielder.
Nadesel Prasnna Wickraamsekara, fresher, sound bat, left-hand
leg-spinner, safe fielder, Nishan Chanaka Coomasaru, fresher, left
hand off spinner with 25 victims to his credit.
S. W. Manuratna Roshan Siriwardhana, Dhammini Kodituwakku, G. L.
Nanayakkara, J. H. Chanaka Madhu Sanka, and Dinesh Chamara are
fresher.
St. Thomas team is coached by Jagath Nanda Kumara and the
master-in-charge is Sisira Weerasingha. St. Servatius: Suminda
Sampath, Captain of St. Servatius a sound bat, keeper of the side. He
is responsible for 38 victims and represents Matara SC in club
cricket. A centurion in the side.
His deputy, R. P. Jathimuni, 4th year player who has collected over
400 runs. K. A. Asela, an all rounder, left hand off spinner has
taken 21 wickets, during the season.
Anushka Ramanayaka, opening bowler who has taken 40 wickets up to
now. A. L. M. Subodha, 3rd year, opening bat, right hand off spinner,
N. S. Samarajeewa, 3rd year, opening bat, a seamer, A. M. Priyantha,
3rd year opening bat, right-hand off spinner, Y. A. N. Mendis, 2nd
year, left-hand off-spinner, left hand bat, S. H. Bary, fresher, a
seamer, I. Dinuka, 2nd year, left hand bat, K. R. S. Wickramasekara,
3rd year, left hand bat, seamer, safe fielder, C. Gunaratna, fresher,
right hand bat and seamer, safe fielder, L. P. Achinna, 2nd year,
seamer safe fielder. S. Nirmala, fresher, reserve wicket-keeper,
Athula Sedara, 2nd year, opening bowler, has taken 33 wickets during
the season. W. D. P. Boteju, 2nd year, middle order batsman, safe
fielder, A. T. Binara, 2nd year, additional opening bat, left hand
off spinner left hand bat. He has taken 22 wickets so far, R. Nirmal,
fresher, left hand off spinner, middle order batsman, centurion in
the side. J. P. Ruwan fresher leg spinner.
The St. Servatius team is coached by Gration Liyanage.
