DSSC have the edge
BY CHRIS DHAMBARAGE
D. S. Senanayake College with a good allround side will have the edge when they take on their traditional rivals St.Benedict's College in the sixth annual cricket encounter at the R.Premadasa Stadium starting today.
The D.S.Senanayake team is studded with six coloursmen and all have proved themselves during the concluded season. In contrast St.Benedict's have failed to make an impact this year and the side will be under tremendous pressure.
D.S.Senanayake also do have a strong batting line up spearheaded by Rashantha Sureshchandra. The last year captain has emerged as their leading run getter and will be supported by Muditha Maduwanhta, Dushantha Amaraweera and skipper Nadeera Gamage. But their main concern will be the all rounder Pradeep Hewage who is capable of turning the game in St.Benedict's favour.
The Benedictines will be fielding only a couple of senior players and are heavily depending on Pradeep Hewage, Trevor Cramer, Priyan de Silva and skipper Rally Tissera. However D.S.Senanayake are quite confident and will be determined to register the first victory in the series.
The two schools will also play their annual limited over encounter on April 10 at the same venue.
