Sri Lanka cricket team wins two matches in America
Sri Lanka registered their second win on their maiden tour of
the United States when they beat Southern California by 28 runs
in a limited over cricket match ended at Woodley Park
Cricket Grounds, Van Nuys, San Fernando Valley, California on
Sunday. Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka made 164 all out
in 40 overs. Kumara Dharmasena (34), Upul Chandana (24) and
Romesh Kaluwitharana (21) were the main scorers. In reply, the
home team were shot out for 136 in 38.5 overs with Carl Daniels
making a top score of 37.
In their previous match played on Saturday at the same
grounds, Sri Lanka beat the USA national team by 74 runs. Arjuna
Ranatunga and his World champion team is scheduled to return to
the island on Wednesday after their dual tour of the Caribbean
Islands and the USA.
