Ashes rivalries of yesteryear will be forgotten as Test veterans lay down arms and meet for a charity match next month.

Australian legends Jeff Thomson, Dean Jones and Ian Healy will line up alongside former foes Allan Lamb, Angus Fraser and John Emburey at Shamley Green in Surrey on 12 August.

The RAF will drop in the match ball at 2pm for the Samaritans fundraiser to be held at the picturesque ground near Guildford.

Organiser Tony Cheeseman (tel 01483 898779 for further information) said: "We hope the Australians will be bringing some of their mates to play."

Local radio is auctioning a place in the opposing team, in what looks to be a pleasant antidote to the Ashes warfare currently taking place.
