Wasim Akram leaves Hampshire on doctors advice

Hampshire Cricket announced today that the Pakistan all-rounder, Wasim Akram, is to leave the Club with immediate effect on the advice of his doctors.

Hampshire Cricket announced today that the Pakistan all-rounder, Wasim Akram, is to leave the Club with immediate effect on the advice of his doctors.
Wasim, 37, who is a known diabetic, has suffered ill health in the past few months and is very sad to be leaving. He has missed three of the eight championship matches since joining Hampshire shortly before the start of the season on a one-year contract.
Hampshire Cricket are in the process of finding an overseas replacement for the remainder of the season.
Nick Pike, Managing Director, said "I am very disappointed that Wasim is leaving the Club but thank him for the help and guidance he has given our younger players. We clearly respect his decision and wish him a speedy recovery and a return to full health."
Director of Cricket, Tim Tremlett, announced that "Wasim has proved to be a very valuable and popular member of the team and we are very sorry to be losing him at this stage in the season.
"We would like to thank the members and supporters for making him feel so welcome since his arrival."
"Wasim Akram has expressed his thanks to the club, his team mates and supporters for making his short stay an extremely enjoyable and memorable one. He wishes the Club and his team mates every success and hopes to return to support Hampshire Cricket in someway in the future".
