Schools South (308-9 dec'd) drew with Schools North (413)
CHIC Schools North captain Rohan Nurse hit an even hundred as his team
posted an impressive total over 400 in their drawn match on the West
Coast.
Continuing from 63 overweek, the 16-year-old Nurse batted responsibly
in reaching the landmark and laying the foundation for a solid reply
by his team.
He often carried the attack to the opposition and scored his century
off 162 balls while occupying the crease for 198 minutes.
The Combermere student also struck 11 fours before falling to the
bowling of Corey Edwards as he was brilliantly caught in the gully by
Derick Bishop.
Middle-order batsman Marlon Clarke, scoring freely on both sides of
the wicket, also fell to Edwards, six short of a century as the
Schools North batsmen gained valuable batting practice.
Clarke, who faced 109 balls and struck nine fours, was bowled for 94
to give Edwards his third wicket in the innings.
Jason Parris, who shared valuable partnerships with both Nurse and
Clarke, also contributed a solid 73 which was his third half-century
in four innings since returning to the team after injury.
Seamer Corey Edwards ended with three for 59 while medium-pacer Bruce
Chandler took two for 10 from 1.1 overs.
The innings folded just after five 0'clock and the match was abandoned
as a tame draw with Schools North securing first innings points.
