West Indies v Australia, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the first Twenty20, West Indies v Australia, 2011-12

15-Apr-2013

At Gros Islet, St Lucia, March 27, 2012. Australia won by eight wickets. Toss: West Indies. Twenty20 international debut: S. P. Narine.

West Indies made a sedate start to reach 66 for three in the 11th over. And though Pollard reached his first fifty in Twenty20 internationals, plundering four sixes and two fours in the 16th and 17th overs alone - including an enormous straight blow off Doherty that ended up on top of the stand - the eventual total was not too daunting. Warner was bowled by the fifth ball of Australia's innings, from the Jamaican left-arm seamer Krishmar Santokie, but there were no further alarms as Watson and Mike Hussey added 108 in 12.5 overs. Bailey, one of Australia's three captains on the tour, supplied the finishing touches.

Man of the Match: S. R. Watson.
