Rodrigues out of Hundred with injury; Lewis replaces her at Superchargers

India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of rest of Northern Superchargers' campaign in the Women's Hundred with a wrist injury. She will be replaced by Gaby Lewis, who will be available for only two games on either side of Ireland's three-match ODI series against Netherlands.

Rodrigues had sustained a blow to her right wrist off Shakera Selman during India's Commonwealth Games match against Barbados. She continued to play the competition with a taped wrist and finished with 146 runs - the fifth-most. In this season's Hundred opener, Rodrigues smashed 51 off just 32 balls opening the batting against defending champions Oval Invincibles, before being dismissed for two against London Spirit. She was the top scorer for the Superchargers last year.

This is the second time Lewis is replacing an India player in the Hundred. Last year she was part of Southern Brave after Smriti Mandhana left for home towards the end of the league stages to prepare for India's tour of Australia.

She will be available for Superchargers clash against Birmingham Phoenix on August 19 and then for the match against Brave on August 31. Ireland and Netherlands play three ODIs in Amstelveen from August 22 to 26, for which Lewis will be on international duty.

In the absence of Laura Delany, Lewis had captained Ireland in the home series against South Africa last month.

Speaking of her Superchargers call-up, Lewis said: "I am excited to be returning to play in the Hundred once again, after getting a taste for the competition last year. It will be a juggle of commitments between Ireland and the Superchargers, but I am keen to ensure I can contribute to both teams as fully as I can."

Danielle Hazell, Superchargers' head coach, said: "Despite only still being 21, Gaby has a wealth of experience and we have seen what she can do in the Hundred before. We feel she has an excellent skill set that will benefit our squad."

Rodrigues faces a race to be fit for India's tour of England, which starts on September 10. The series includes three T20Is followed by three ODIs.
