Zimbabwe v South Africa

At Harare, September 29

15-Apr-2003
At Harare, September 29. South Africa won by 148 runs. Toss: South Africa.
Streak, who was clearly unfit in Bulawayo, dropped out; Whittall assumed the captaincy, while Brent came into the attack and bowled with superb accuracy. Extra bounce in the pitch surprised one or two of the South African batsmen, who could not sustain their dominance. Gibbs still helped them to an ample total with 69 off 77 balls, though the accolades went to Rhodes for his 56 off 45. Promoted to open, Paul Strang gave Zimbabwe a brisk start before four wickets fell in five overs, including Andy Flower's, when Ntini forced him to chop a ball on to his stumps. The dismissal of Carlisle began a terminal slide, with scarcely a shot played in anger thereafter; Henderson was the main beneficiary.
Man of the Match: J. N. Rhodes.
