Fourth One-day International

PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1991-92

At Multan, January 17. Sri Lanka won by four wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankans' first win of the tour ended Pakistan's aspirations of a clean sweep of the series. They restricted their hosts to 205 after Ramiz Raja and Inzamam-ul-Haq opened with 149 runs. On his home ground, Inzamam scored a maiden one-day hundred, in his sixth international, off just 121 balls, to confirm his growing stature. Ijaz Ahmed continued the run-a-ball onslaught, but three wickets fell and the pace slackened.

Sri Lanka's progress was well planned, and their second-wicket stand virtually won the match. Samarasekera hit 76 from 88 balls, with a six, a five and five fours, and Gurusinha 74 off 85 balls, (one six and seven fours) to add 157 in 27.4 overs. The rest was easy, despite generally tight Pakistani bowling.

Man of the Match: Inzamam-ul-Haq.
